Deforestation and the ever-growing threat of climate change are themes that continue to occur in my artwork. I am very passionate about using my art to educate and enlighten people on issues such as these. This is a project I did in February of 2019, in which I created a different endangered animal for each of the 28 days. This is a compilation of a few of my favorites.
100 Rescue Animals
I often give myself a personal project in order to stay creating every day. When I create personal projects, it is important to me that they have the ability to help or educate. Currently, I am working on a project titled “100 Rescue Animals”, in which I reach out to shelters across the United States and draw pictures of the animals that need a little love. Many of these animals have been in the shelters for a while, and I hope that with my illustrations I can bring some awareness to these animals who deserve forever homes
#PBCHAT PROMPT CARDS
I have been involved in the weekly #PBCHAT on Twitter since it started, and when Justin Colón asked me to create a series of illustrations for their April question cards, I could not say no! Because it is a picture book chat, I decided a series of sequential illustrations would be appropriate
Procreate illustration created for the SCBWI (Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) monthly Draw This contest.
Album artwork I created for the Brooklyn-based band Summer Underground. Their latest album, Honeycomb offers a contemplative view of the dualities of NYC. This artwork came with a fold-out double-sided poster and CD.
Hoot LLC Toy Design
Character Design is one of my favorite things to illustrate, so when Hoot LLC asked me to create a series of character designs for their new plush toy line, I could not think of a better job! I had the pleasure of creating multiple character designs for them, which were then sent to the manufacturer to be made into the Lovelets.
The Tiger & The Hare
One thing I strive to do through my art is empower women by telling their own unique stories. For October 2018’s SCBWI Draw This Prompt Girl Power, I wanted to feature a song my mother use to sing to me as a child.
I am woman hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
I have been playing with this leopard character for a while, and hope to use her for a great story some day.
